working student program

Risen Star Farms offers a unique experience for riders who want to get some practice in all areas of managing, training, and showing in the equine industry in HFSHC! The working student program RSF offers is the first of it's kind, and is a great way to learn the ropes of HFSHC.

Starting in 2005, RSF will be taking on two or three working students who will be responsible for the care and maintenance of horses and facilities. They will get a chance to show and train some top level sport horses, be involved in the dynamic breeding program that RSF is developing, and learn what it takes to manage a top facility!

It's a lot of hard work, but in return boarders are allowed and encouraged to bring up to five of their own horses onto the RSF property. Horses recieve free board, and both the rider and her horses recieve free training or lessons, use of our facilities for shows and events, and breeding or sale discounts on any of RSF's horses. If they choose, the working student can stay on site and will be provided a small living space!
